Capturing Your Moments: Emotional Storytelling for Families

I'm a mama to three beautiful boys, who are the inspiration for most of my work. I adore both lifestyle and documentary photography, because I love capturing REAL moments. Those moments that are completely unposed, are always my favourite.

I'm a storyteller.

Images which tell a story, make me FEEL. To me, looking at an image and seeing a person's personality shining through makes my heart happy. I want you to remember this moment in time just as it was. I want you to look at your photos, smile, and say "that's us."

I aim to capture the whole story - the good bits and the bad. Life isn't always pretty, and the outtakes deserve to have their moment in the spotlight too. I focus on moments, because moments are what form the fabric of our lives. I believe that it is just as important to capture the little moments and the everyday, as it is the 'big' moments in life.

Because storytelling can be candid or guided, I'll use a combination of lifestyle and documentary techniques to tell your story.

My style

If I had to describe my style in three words, it would be warmemotive, and honest. My aim is always to capture true personality and real moments. These moments form the basis of the story I'll tell with your images.

My technique

I take quite a hands-off approach during sessions, in order to be able to capture the most genuine moments. You can think of me as a silent observer, simply there to help you capture a moment in time, a moment you'll be able to keep in your memory forever.

After your session, I will individually hand-edit your images. I love using colour or creative black & white conversions to add tone and depth, which adds to the overall feel and mood of the gallery. I'll never use photoshop to change your body or take out wrinkles. Those are the things that make us unique individuals and the things I believe in wearing proudly.

Your life: your location

I am a firm believer that in order for photos to mean something, they must be taken at a location significant to you. Common locations include the family home, a favourite playground, a park or reserve, or your favourite beach. For this reason, I won't offer suggestions on where photos should be taken, but I am happy to provide feedback in relation to your intended location.

When you book a session with me, you'll find that I'm very laid back. I don't want you to stress over things like how your makeup looks, or whether the kids still have breakfast on their faces. I won't tell you what to wear, I won't tell the kids to look at the camera and say "cheese." I want you to come as your real, authentic, everyday selves. That's when I am able to make the magic happen.
